Dr. Jessie Hulst is a staff paediatrician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Toronto. She completed her Paediatric residency and Paediatric GHN fellowship in the Netherlands. Before transitioning to SickKids in July 2018, she was a Staff Gastroenterologist in Sophia Children’s Hospital, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, from 2011-2018. She has developed a simple nutritional screening tool (STRONGkids), which is used widely around the world.
Dr. Hulst was involved in several national and international working groups related to pediatric nutrition. As the Chair of the Pediatric section of the Dutch Malnutrition Taskforce, she was involved in the development and implementation of a nationwide paediatric malnutrition pathway and development of mandatory National Hospital Quality Indicators on paediatric malnutrition. She is currently the co-chair of the Paediatric working group of the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force and working on the design and implementation of a paediatric Malnutrition Pathway in Canada. At SickKids, Jessie runs a complex Nutrition clinic and EoE clinic, she is the hospital PN medical lead and the chair of the Nutritional Advisory Committee.
